Counselling

I work with individual women and men, and youth from 14 years and older. I practice from a sunny room in Masterton and via online video calls, and parents with young children have the option of home visits.

You may feel anxious to come along for the first time but people generally feel that it is a relief to share their story with someone who is qualified to respond to the struggles of life who listens attentively and with no judgment.

When we meet, I welcome you to express your hopes and expectations for counselling, but don’t worry if you do not know what you your goals are, we will explore this together.

My role is to make sure you feel safe, supported and comfortable to talk freely and to ensure that we move the conversation along at a pace that works for you. You should also expect positive changes in your life as a result of coming to counselling – how these changes will look depend on what problems have brought you to therapy.

Each session is confidential and lasts 50-60 minutes.

My areas of work include:

  • Depression/feeling ‘down’
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Trauma – including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD
  • Self-doubt and confidence
  • Sexual abuse – historical and recent/current
  • Stress and burnout
  • Parenting – responding to the changes that come with the parenting role, and practical parenting strategies
  • Relationship challenges
  • Grief and loss
  • Loneliness
  • Sexual identity
  • Alcohol and drug misuse and dependency
